Hedging!

Today we took advantage of the dry, sometimes sunny weather to plant 42 more hawthorn saplings along the boundary. Working outside the wooden fence that edges the Park, and as part of our community engagement, we were able to plant the saplings to help improve the aspect from the sports field. The first stage of planting was nearly a year ago and that hedging is again beginning to flower. These saplings are thriving and the whole hedge will hopefully provide a a good wildlife habitat when it produces nectar-rich flowers for insects and autumn berries, known as haws, offering food for birds.
